Finally, Beverages for Tropical Country

I’ve been dying want to try a smoothie. I made juice all the time but never tried making smoothies. Mostly because the recipes online needs ingredients that is not easily found here. It’s easy to get banana or watermelon or lemon (well, lemon is kinda hard but possible to find). But some other food like blueberry, peach or kiwi is expensive and no where to be found. Clearly my money pocket and the supermarket are against the idea of me trying those fruits. After stumbling for a while, finally I few pages that share beverage recipes with easy to found Ingredients. Here is the list:

Watermelon Lemonade and Strawberry-Mint Iced Tea

Ingredients (6 servings):

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup honey water (1/4 honey 1/4 water) <— you can also use agave
  • 4 mint-flavored tea bags

Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade


  • 3 cups fresh lemon juice (about 20 lemons)
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 12 cups chilled water

Strawberry Agua Fresca


  • 4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 6 cups hulled strawberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)

Southern Strawberry Sweet Iced Tea


  • 5 tea bags, steeped in 4 cups of hot water for 5 minutes
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar or sugar substitute, or to taste
  • 2 cups of fresh whole strawberries, cleaned
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1-1/2 lemons)
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra strawberries, for garnish
